West Caister Hike

What a great hike last night, lovely evening. 35 of us walked from Bure Park, across field paths to West Caister and back to the hut, 3 1/2 miles according to my pedometer.

One young Scout had planned ahead and was taking photographs for a school competition.

St. Georges Day Parade

There was a good turn out from all sections from 1st Caister. All looking very smart with their matching woggles.

After the parade along the Seafront they made their way to the Hippodrome for a few presentations and entertainment.

Woggle Making

Woggle making was the order of the day at this weeks Scouts, all the Scouts made them in preparation for the St. Georges Day parade. Whilst there was only room for 4 Scouts at a time on the woggle base, the others were requested to bring in a board game (Warhammer was very popular, both from a players perspective and a spectators perspective).

Comic Relief Update

A total of £129 was raised on the night and £151 raised with the leg waxing making a total of £280.

Mothers Day Crafts

It was a very quite night on Thursday, a few of our Scouts were taking part in a local dancing event.

As Mothers Day is looming we had a Mothers Day Craft Night. The Scouts made cards and decorated them to their own design, they also decorated small “trinket-type” boxes of which they filled with home made peppermint creams.

Craft nights are great for earning the craft badge and also to complete part of the Creative Challenge badge.

We also presented a lot of badges, slowly catching up with an unfortunate back-log.

Don’t forget the Mothers Day Service on Sunday.

For 1st Caister Scouts Red Nose Day 09 was a great success, we managed to raise £236, £85 on the night and £151 from the Scout Leaders Leg Waxing.

Events on the night included a Lucky Dip, Caption Competion, Red Nose Sweepstake, Bring In Your Loose Change and, if the Scouts failed to wear their clothes back to front they had to pay a £1 fine.

This was a great night and we are very please to have raised this money for less fortunate children.

District Day Out 09 – Duxford

14 1st Caister Scouts joined up with over 300 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders to Visit Duxford. This was a District Day out and The Scouts were able to work towards their Basic Aviation Skills Badge. This was a great day, the weather stayed clear and the Scouts had an enjoyable day. Our thansk to the organisers.
